10 things to look forward to in August: art festivals, food festivals, Army Daze 2 and more!

1. Singapore Coffee Festival

Singapore Coffee Festival is back with a second edition at Marina Bay Cruise Centre this 4 to 6 August! Expect the smell of freshly ground coffee from well known and underground local coffee roasters. Daily workshops and live art performances are also available.

2. Films At The Fort

Missed the screening of Baywatch in cinemas? Fret not, Films At The Forts is back with another edition of open-air movie screening under the stars. Catch movies like Baywatch, or Get Out. To get your parents on the wagon, Grease will be screened too. Perfect for all ages.

3. Civic District Outdoor Festival

The National Gallery will be transforming the civic district into an outdoor festival, one not to be missed! The festival will feature over 50 projection shows and art installations. The Padang will be open for you to lay your mats out and hang out with the giant lit up bunnies.

4. Army Daze 2

We all love the original hit play written by Michael Chiang in 1987 that turned into a film featuring Sheikh Haikal, Deanna Yusoff, Kevin Mark Marghese and more in 1996. This August, the long awaited sequel (after 30 years!) will debut on stage featuring Chua Enlai, Hossan Leong and more.

5. Open Homes (Singapore International Festival of The Arts)

6. Ultimate Drummers Weekend


Drummers, rejoice! Get together on the 5 to 6 August weekend and witness your favourite drummers in action. The Singapore Drum Fest will witness local and foreign artists at the MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO for two days of musicianship and showmanship.

7. Beerfest Asia

Beerfest Asia will be held at Marina Bay Cruise Centre for the first time in years! You are sure to not end up in a sweaty mess (or you might, who knows) in the air-conditioned hall. Expect over 500 exhibitors like Starker Singapore, The 1925 Brewing Co. Restaurant and Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore.

8. Singapore Night Festival

This year, the festival will be celebrating their 10th anniversary. This year's edition will feature the beauty of night lights as well as crowd favourites. You'll find pop-up installations as well as roving artists, literally changing the Bras Basah.Bugis district into a huge outdoor performing arts festival.

9. Swapaholic


One man's trash is another man's treasure, they say. Save all the clothes you don't want anymore and bring them over to Liang Court to swap with someone else! If you're lucky, you might even bring home a gem or two.
