You can expect to find your local favourites like Mee Rebus, Laksa and Chicken Rice.   Head upstairs and you will experience a whole different vibe — a more hipster one — dubbed the Fareground. You can find contemporary fusion dishes like Japanese don bowls or French-inspired dishes. You can also expect for art markets, craft fairs and music gigs to take place here. You'd be glad to know that every stall operating at this hawker centre will feature at least two budget meals, priced from $2.80, giving everyone a chance to enjoy affordable and quality cooked food. Think vermicelli roll with rendang (Cantonese and Javanese? Say what?) However, we must say that the team was looking for classic dim sum dishes so here's what we got. Served with fried chilli paste as a condiment, the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup ($12.90) really packed a punch with the rich and savoury soup. Source: The Halia We went to The Halia and tried out their newly halal-certified (just last May!) all-day dining menu. Here's what we think. The Halia is located at Singapore's Botanical Gardens, in the middle of lush foliage, about an 18-min walk from the Botanic Gardens MRT Station. We know, an 18-min walk sounds a tad bit exasperating but hey, good food awaits you on the other side, we promise! Just enjoy the walk in the garden itself until you find yourself in Ginger Garden (because 'halia' in Malay translates to 'ginger' in English). The restaurant features the main dining hall called the Dining Room as well as two al-fresco dining area called Viewing Decks. Both the interior and exterior of the restaurant are contributing factors to our whole experience at The Halia. Source: Facebook Good news for you Weekenders who (sometimes) sobs at the fact that the nearest A&W restaurant to you is an hour ferry ride away -- in Batam.  The American fast food chain famous for its root beer floats, Coney dogs and ice-cream waffles have confirmed to be making a comeback right here on our tiny island! Montigo Resorts is now no stranger to Singaporeans who are looking for a short getaway without the flight. We had the chance to visit Montigo Resorts last week and indulge ourselves in the food served at the two in-house restaurants, TADD'S  and Pantai .  TADD'S Restaurant serves local, Asian and Western all-day dining in a casual semi-alfresco poolside setting. Here you can find local favourites such as Traditional Gado Gado Salad and Nasi Goreng Kampung.
